Claire Anderson is a graduate of the Sheridan College Crafts and Design Glass Program where she discovered her passion for sculpture and design. While maintaining an interest in, and continuing to conceptually draw upon, as wide a range of media as possible, focusing on working with glass has offered her the versatility to create both sculptural and functional works while allowing for the goal of developing the utmost quality and integrity within each piece created.
She is a member of the Glass Art Association of Canada (GAAC), and Craft Ontario. Her work has been exhibited in a number of juried shows and is represented for sale through private galleries and boutiques all over Ontario. She worked in a production studio in Merrickville, ON for a number of years, producing the work as well as learning the ropes of running a functioning glassblowing studio.
She works currently, in conjunction with her partner Steven Woodruff, as an Artist In Residence at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.
“I am intrinsically attracted to the alternating chaos and serenity of the human condition. I am seeking to express our constant contradictions; the imperfections that complete us. I want to change the way we perceive ourselves and each other. I am searching for the root of the madness that has enveloped us as a species. This search may take a while.” – Claire
